Our Mission

What is the mission of the CComCors Program?

To advance the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ. To promote the Christian world and life view. To apply Biblical principles and precepts to contemporary issues and to restore Biblical ethics and morality as the basis for national standards in America.

What makes the program unique?

1. The members know the battle for the soul of America is spiritual (II Cor. 10:3-5); that in the war against the forces of darkness Christians must arm themselves with the spiritual weapons God provides. What are these weapons? Prayer (James 5:16), The Word of God (Hebrews 4:12), Faith (Hebrews 11), Fortitude (Acts 5:29) and the Blood of the Lamb (Revelation 12:11).

2. Christian Committees of Correspondence are unique in another sense: each local Committee is an autonomous self-governing entity yet through Christ it is in union and unity with all other Committees.

What do the local committees do?

First, pray. The fervent prayer of the righteous achieves the impossible. The Committees are founded on prayer, operate with prayer, are empowered through prayer. In 1990, the CComCor effort led the way in prevailing upon Congress and the White House to proclaim November 2 a National Day of Prayer for our Armed Forces in the Persian Gulf.

Second, study. CComCor units study God's word (Psalm 1). They search the Scriptures to learn His Biblical principles and precepts and to apply them as their guide in every area of life -- in personal deportment and in public and civic affairs (Psalm 119:11).

Third, educate. The Committees conduct ongoing education programs to promote the Biblical world and life view (Genesis 1:28; Matthew 28:19,20). Our overarching message: God's Word is and always will be relevant. Christ has the solutions to the nation's problems.

Fourth, serve Christ by serving others. Local Committees engage in community service programs as commanded by The Lord God in Isaiah 58:6-14 and Matthew 25:31-46 and as emphasized by James (2:17). One external mark of the early American Christians was loving service to their neighbors. We are to help the needy, the sick, the widowed, the orphaned, the homeless -- all in the name of Jesus Christ, thus reducing Caesar's reach and grasp.

What about the CComCor program and the local church?

The local Christian Committee of Correspondence works closely with the local church. The church is a vital organ in Christ's body. If America is to be turned back to God, if there is to be a reawakening and reformation, it will come through the Holy Spirit moving through Bible-preaching, Bible-believing and prayerful local churches. Thus, we expect the local unit to be a part of the Christian education program of -- or at least affiliated with and accountable to -- a local Bible-believing church.

There may be situations where a Committee comprising members of several congregations would be more practicable and effective. Provisions for such a situation can be made.

Is the local CComCor unit just one more meet and talk group?

No! The local CComCor unit is, first, a prayer and study group. But it is much more; it is also a Christian service group -- an action organization for Christ.

Action without knowledge can be deadly. But knowledge without action -- without putting faith to work -- is dead (James 2:20). The CComCor program emphasizes God's triad of power: prayer, study -- and works!

Is the CComCor program just one more political action group?

Absolutely not! The CComCor program is purposefully and specifically designed and conducted to serve Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords -- to serve and glorify Jesus Christ by serving others in His name.

Political action devoid of obedience to Biblical principles is man-centered, humanistic: centered in politics as the world knows politics; serving man, not God. In and of itself it makes a god of politics and politicians. It leads to expediency, to compromise. Thus, there is little or no Christian witness and no true victory.

Christian action, by contrast, is Bible-based, Christ-centered. It seeks to serve The Living God (I Cor. 10:31). To give Christ the pre-eminence in all things. It does not "use" God, it seeks to be used by Him. It puts its trust not in men but in the all-powerful arm of The Lord.
